£7 million for Cheshire East roads in 2022-23 amid councillor warnings

Cheshire East Council needs to invest as much as it can now to improve its highways to avoid closing unsafe roads in the future, a councillor warned.

It comes as the authority has included £7 million in its capital programme in 2022/3 for highways.

Action is being demanded to fill Cheshire East’s potholes after councillors complained that patched up roads are breaking back up.

Cllr Mick Warren, independent member for Macclesfield East, told Thursday’s full council meeting that two potholes in his ward have broken back up just three weeks after they were repaired.
