This is the view some angry residents in Nantwich have after weeks of not having rubbish collected.

Residents of Weaver House and Wheelock House, on Barony Road, say the piles of rotten garbage are now attracting rats and magpies and causing a horrendous stink.

An aspiring garden designer will celebrate his community allotment’s 100th birthday in his debut show garden at RHS Flower Show Tatton Park.

Harry Dean, 19, a landscape architecture student at University Centre Reaseheath in Nantwich, will lead a team of 11 fellow vegetable growers from Over Allotments in Winsford on the garden build.

The team of 10 environmentally minded residents collected a dozen bin bags full of cans, bottles, crisp packets, cigarette butts and “disposable” vapes in just a couple of hours.

Cheshire East has given the go-ahead for two large employment developments near Crewe which could create 2,900 jobs despite claims “grey sheds” will be a “blot on the landscape”.

Muse Developments was granted full planning permission for three large units for light industrial or warehousing and distribution on land at Basford East, near the A500.

A key Sunday bus service connecting Nantwich, Willaston and Crewe is being axed from July.

The loss of the D&G service means the 84 corridor will only have a service every 90 minutes on Sunday with Stagecoach.

Visitors viewed the boiling of local brine similar to that taken from Nantwich’s Old Biot salt spring, which for centuries supplied the brine which the town’s prosperity was built on.
