Willaston residents plant 250 trees at Lettie Spencer field

Twenty-five residents in Willaston turned out to help plant more than 250 trees on the Lettie Spencer Playing Field.

The trees, including Birch, Rowan and Hazel species, were planted in areas to improve wildlife habitat and visual interest for park users.

Spurstow artist and former teacher Dee Walker has been shortlisted for the prestigious MS Amlin Continuity Prize with her painting, The Lake is Deep.

The annual ‘Holly Fair’ at Wells Green Methodist Church in Wistaston has helped to raise more than £1,800 for church funds.

In the entrance hall, there was a hamper made up of Fair Traded goods, sponsored by Wells Green Choir, and a stall of Traidcraft foods and Christmas gifts.
