Fares could be introduced for bus pass holders in Cheshire East who currently travel free on a FlexiLink ‘dial-a-ride’ service for elderly and disabled people.
That is one option Cheshire East Council is considering in a bid to keep the FlexiLink service running as passenger numbers drop.
Cheshire East Council wants the views of users on how to spend £2.4 million on bus services in the borough.
Meanwhile, bus users will enjoy an extension to the £2 single bus ticket scheme now being offered until October 31, with a fare cap of £2.50 from 1 November for another year.

Cheshire East Council will drive ahead with scaled-back plans to improve bus services despite the government putting the brakes on some schemes by refusing grant funding.
The council had put together an ambitious bus service improvement programme (BSIP) in the hope of securing funding as part of the government’s national “bus back better” strategy.
