Friday 22 November marked four years since the previous government’s consultation on pavement parking in England closed.
Cars parked on, and sometimes hogging the whole pavement, will be a familiar sight to many.
Nantwich Town Council is proposing to raise its portion of Council Tax by 8% in 2025-26.
Councillors have agreed to put the plan out for public consultation until December 8.
Cash-strapped Cheshire East Council are planning to introduce evening and Sunday parking charges across the borough.
The authority, facing a £100 million black hole in its budget, has opened a public consultation for the plan which will apply to most council-owned car parks across the borough.
More than 1,000 people have aired views on the current Cheshire East Council consultation on local bus services.

Cheshire East Council is to consult the public on introducing Sunday and evening parking charges along with cashless machines after the move was backed by councillors.
The decision to hold a further public consultation was taken immediately after the highways and transport committee agreed to introduce parking charges in the currently ‘free’ towns and villages and hike up fees in those which already pay.

In one of the documents of Cheshire East Council Budget Consultation, you show that central support has dropped for £55M to near zero over 10 years, then state that “The council must therefore do things differently for less”
The “free after 3pm” car parking scheme on some Cheshire East Council car parks will be kept after the results of a public consultation.
But parking charges looks set to be introduced in most car parks where it is currently free, and charges may also be brought in on Sundays.

Cheshire East Council has not priced up the costs of introducing charges on its free car parks – including having to buy and install meters.
The council is currently consulting with the public on proposals to introduce charges on most of its free car parks and to hike up the fees on most of those which already have pay and display, including Nantwich.
Residents in Nantwich are being urged to air views on Cheshire East Council’s proposed changes to parking arrangements and charges.
It could see parking costing £1 an hour on some car parks in Nantwich, including Bowling Green and Church Lane.

Residents are to be asked their views on plans to extend Cheshire East’s FlexiLink ‘dial-a-ride’ bus service so more people can use it and drive passenger numbers up.
FlexiLink offers a personalised, door-to-door service and operates in a similar way to a traditional ‘dial-a-ride’.
