Nantwich man completes double-marathon for children’s charity

A runner from Nantwich has completed a double marathon to raise money for a children’s hospital.
Charles Boughton, 27, completed the b52.5 miles at Barony Park in Nantwich in aid of Birmingham Children’s Hospital.

Brandon Bentley appeared at Chester Crown Court where he was sentenced to eight years in prison.

At present, councillors can only claim one special responsibility allowance (SRA).

Cheshire East councillors have approved a budget for the next financial year which includes mothballing three tips and increasing council tax by 4.99%.
The council voted by 43 to 32 in favour of the budget which brings in a raft of savings measures including emergency tip closures at Bollington, Middlewich and Poynton from April.
Police hunt for armed robber who targeted Crewe store
Detectives hunting an armed robber who targeted a Crewe convenience store are appealing for witnesses and video footage.
The robbery happened when a man wielding a bat entered the Morrisons Daily store on West Street.
RSPCA Stapeley nurses trapped bus station pigeon back to health
A pigeon rescued after being trapped in the rafters of a bus station has been nursed back to health by RSPCA staff at Stapeley Grange in Nantwich.
The bird was seen trapped by its wing and hanging from the top of Chester Bus Interchange and was rescued by the RSPCA.
Cheshire East Council finance boss quits to take up new job

Cheshire East Council is on the hunt for another top officer after head of finance Alex Thompson handed in his notice.
Mr Thompson is quitting as director of finance and customer service in May to become executive director for finance and transformation at Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council.
Cheshire East Council to receive £180 million transport funding
Cheshire East Council is to be allocated more than £180 million to be invested in improving local transport, the Government has announced.
It’s part of the £1.5 billion of reallocated HS2 funding being invested in the North West through the Local Transport Fund.
