Planet Doughnut are to close their Nantwich store from May 28, they have revealed.
The closure less than two years after it was opened on Pillory Street in September 2021.

New “Leg Club” launched for South Cheshire sufferers
A new “Leg Club” to support people with lower limb problems has been launched by Central Cheshire Integrated Care Partnership (CCICP).
The club is run in the community to promote self-care and help with additional issues such as reducing feelings of social isolation.
87 residents without ID denied May 4 vote in Cheshire East

Eighty-seven residents turned up at polling stations in Cheshire East and were denied a vote because they didn’t have the correct photo ID.
Altogether 188 people had turned up without ID, but 101 had later returned with it and were issued with a ballot paper.
Cheshire officers work with KnifeSavers on life-saving training
Cheshire Police have joined forces with not-for-profit organisation KnifeSavers as part of its approach to tackling knife crime in the county.
Officers from Crewe & Nantwich Local Policing Unit have partnered with the knife crime charity.

Reaseheath College horticulture students have planted a cherry blossom tree outside St Mary’s Church in Nantwich to mark the coronation of Their Majesties King Charles III and Queen Camilla.
The Prunus incisa ‘Mikinori’ is a small Fuji tree that is covered with bee-friendly pink flowers in Spring and develops colourful foliage in the Autumn.
Nantwich councillors back “Flash” Meakin crowdfunded memorial
Nantwich town councillors have supported a plan to crowdfund a memorial to Michael “Flash” Meakin who died last month.
“Flash” was a well known and loved character in the town for more than 50 years, known as the man with the handcart collecting tin cans and scrap metal for recycling.

The new Mayor of Nantwich Stephanie Wedgwood was sworn in at the town council meeting in Nantwich Civic Hall tonight (May 18).
Cllr Wedgwood, born and bred in Nantwich, has taken over the chains as Mayor from Cllr Peter Groves.

Christopher Allen was taken to Royal Stoke Hospital with serious injuries after a collision on the Wettenhall Road, in Poole.

CEC Independent leader’s tweet hits back at Tories over leadership role

The leader of the Independent group on Cheshire East Council said the Conservative group would be running the council with them if they had agreed to share the leadership.
Cllr Craig Browne’s tweet came after Conservative group leader Janet Clowes said she found it “extraordinary” the Independents had agreed to run the council with Labour again and give residents “four more years of the same”.
Cheshire Wildlife Trust plants more trees than ever before
The Nature Recovery team at Cheshire Wildlife Trust have worked with farmers and landowners across Cheshire to plant more than 62,000 trees in past two years.
It’s part of the Trees for Climate programme, a multi-million pound national woodland creation programme being delivered by England’s Community Forests.

Independent group leader Cllr Craig Browne confirmed his members had opted to work with Labour rather the Conservatives following “intense negotiations” with both parties.
Nantwich man jailed for sexually assaulting woman in Winsford
A Nantwich man who sexually assaulted a woman in Winsford has been jailed.
Morgan Stubbs was sentenced to three years in prison at Chester Crown court yesterday (May 15).
