Wistaston scout leader John Bennett has been awarded an MBE in the Kings Birthday Honours list, for services to young people in Cheshire.

John, born in Milton Keynes in 1944, was a wolf cub and then a boy scout with 1st Wolverton Scout Group.

A £3.5m renewable energy scheme is underway at two Nantwich primary schools.

Acton CE Primary Academy and Calveley Primary Academy are the first schools in the North West to benefit from heat extracted through boreholes, in a drive to reduce their environmental impact.

Cheshire East planners have recommended approval for up to 25 entry-level homes on a Bunbury site where permission for 15 homes was refused less than two years ago.

In July 2021 the southern planning committee turned down an application from Roger Ryder to demolish a house called Parkside, on Bunbury Lane, and build 15 homes on the land.
