An exhibition of items from South West Cheshire Scouts District’s archive was held by Wistaston Scout Group’s new Scout Centre
A comprehensive range of displays contained items dating back to 1908 and included books, photographs, certificates, flags, memorabilia from several World Jamborees and Crewe Scout Gang Shows, old Scout uniforms and a great many press cuttings as well as other items of historic interest.
A 10-year-old Cub Scout from Wistaston played a starring role in a new Remembrance video alongside the Duchess of Cambridge.
Young Emily Edge was part of the video filmed to mark Remembrance and 100 years of the Royal British Legion.
The funeral for Rev Ken Sambrook who died recently will take place on Monday November 29.
It will take place at 11:30am at St Mary’s Church in Wistaston.

Villagers in Wistaston and Willaston are mourning the death of popular Revd Ken Sambrook.
Ken passed away on Wednesday (November 10) after a brief spell in hospital.

This amazing Remembrance Day “Ribbon of Poppies” cascade with silhouetted soldiers has been unveiled at Wistaston & Rope War Memorial.
The 70ft high cascade was installed by the 35th South West Cheshire (Wistaston) Scout Group, made of more than 5,000 plastic bottle ends donated by Scouts and members of the public.

The 38th annual Wistaston Flower and Produce Show took place at St Mary’s Church Hall on Church Lane in Wistaston.
St Mary’s Church Hall was filled with stunning floral arrangements and there were high standards throughout the flower and vegetables classes.

The Rising Sun Nurseries garden centre on Middlewich Road in Wistaston is selling a book to raise money for a charity.
The book is called ‘When Beetroot turned red’ and was written by Mark Cook, who is a family friend of the garden centre owners.
Members of Wistaston Allotments on Wistaston Green Road have welcomed the delivery of an unused sales cabin from a local housebuilder.
The community of 40 members was searching for a suitable cabin for the allotment to hold monthly meetings, fundraising discussions and wider community events like open days.

Wistaston Jubilee Tennis Club (WJTC) on Church Lane is gearing up to re-open their two courts at the end of this month when nationwide lockdown restrictions ease.
All outdoor tennis clubs across the country will be able to re-open for play from Monday (March 29), as part of Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s four-step roadmap out of lockdown.
