Tributes paid to Battle of Nantwich stalwart after sudden death

The Nantwich community and members of the Sealed Knot are mourning the sudden death of Colin Bisset, of Nantwich.

Colin, who died recently of a heart attack, aged 83, was a devoted member of the Sealed Knot for many years.

Dabbers Dash community run to be started by Sealed Knot

A Sealed Knot musketeer will start this weekend’s community ‘Dabbers Dash’ event – held on the same day as the “Battle of Nantwich” re-enactment.

The ‘Dabbers Dash’ is a free informal community run/walk/wheel that takes place one Saturday each month around Barony Park and Sandford Road.

Thousands of people enjoyed the 42nd ‘Marbury Merry Days’ two-day traditional country fair in fine weather.

The fair is organised by St Michael & All Angels Parochial Church Council and takes places every May in the field next to St Michael & All Angels Parish Church and Marbury Big Mere, just three from Wrenbury, near Nantwich.

The “Holly Holy Day” celebration marks the 1644 Battle in the town, which proved to be one of the key events in the English Civil War between the Royalists and Parliamentarians.

The Holly Holy Day annual event normally takes place on the final weekend of January, and is one of the biggest one-day events in the town.
