RNLI fundraisers from Audlem and Nantwich in Royal day out

Two local RNLI fundraisers enjoyed a royal day out when they attended the charity’s 200th anniversary garden party at Buckingham Palace.

Janet Maughan, of Overwater Marina near Audlem, joined Christine Cottrell, a staunch supporter of the Crewe and Nantwich Branch of the RNLI for more than 20 years.

Man cycling 1,080 miles for Dogs for Good stops off in Nantwich

A man cycling from Land’s End to John O’Groats for charity “Dogs for Good” stopped off in Nantwich this week, where he met a fellow volunteer.

Graham Walker began his 1,080-mile journey last week to raise money for the charity which helps people with disabilities through the power of expertly trained dogs.

The event, organised by parents Greg Gill and Charlotte Wilson in memory of baby Theodore who was born sleeping in April last year, raised more than £1,000.

RSPCA Stapeley staff nurse fox cubs that fell into deep pits

Staff at the RSPCA wildlife centre in Nantwich are caring for four fox cubs who all survived serious injury after falling into deep concrete pits.

The first cub was rescued from the construction site in Cannock on April 29, followed by another one the following day and a further two on May 1.

A Nantwich dad is in a gruelling training regime to try and complete four marathons in 24 hours in aid of Cancer Research.

Paul Dean, a teaching assistant, has previously raised thousands of pounds for charities by running 10 marathons in 10 days and a 24-hour running challenge.
