St Mary’s Church on Monks Lane in Acton have organised ‘Holly Holy Day’ Battle of Nantwich events this Saturday January 22.
The church will be open from 9am until 11:30am serving hot drinks and buttered toast.
“Neorenaissance”, a new exhibition by local artist Mark Sheeky, has opened in the Millennium Gallery at Nantwich Museum.
It will run until Saturday 5 March.
Holly Holy Day in Nantwich is Saturday January 22 – the day residents celebrated the end in 1644 of the Royalist siege of the town by wearing a sprig of holly in their hats.
And while this year’s Battle of Nantwich re-enactment has been cancelled due to Covid, there are other events taking place to commemorate the occasion.
The UK tour of “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” has been extended into 2022 and will visit Crewe Lyceum this month.
Washington Irving’s classic tale has been given new life by acclaimed playwright Philip Meeks (Murder, Margaret and Me; Harpy).

The Wrenbury & District Model Railway Club has been forced to postpone its Open Doors event for a second time due to Covid.
The original event was planned for 2020 at Sainsbury’s in Whitchurch and was re-arranged for February 18-19 2022.
Nantwich Choral Society ended 2021 on a high with its first Family Carol Service for two years and a new President at the helm.

Local scouts are helping to run a Christmas tree collection and recycling scheme.
The scheme run by the 1st South West Cheshire Scout Group (The Andrews) in Crewe will raise money in aid of local Scouts, to support local children between 6-14 to gain skills for life.

This re-telling of the Christmas story was performed by a mixture of adults and young people at various times during Christmas Eve.
Staff and volunteers from St Luke’s Hospice will be collecting and recycling real Christmas trees in return for a donation towards patient care.
Registration for the annual Christmas Tree Collection is now open.
