Oh what a night! Indeed it was when the Egerton Strings Quartet presented their ‘Best of the 70s’ candlelight concert at St Mary’s in Nantwich, writes Jan Roberts.
The fab four, admitting they weren’t old enough to remember the decade but loved the music all the same, moved seamlessly from iconic rock ballad to soul-stirring disco anthem.

South Cheshire-based The Funky Choir will be spreading yuletide joy with a festive Christmas Concert in Acton on Saturday December 7.
The event from 7.30pm will take place at the village’s St Mary’s Church near Nantwich.
The Nantwich Singers will be giving their Christmas Concert “The Ivy and the Holly?” in St Mary’s Church in Nantwich on December 15.
Starting at 3pm, the concert will help put residents in a festive mood with new twists on old favourites, carols to join in with, poetry, and some new classics.

South Cheshire George Formby Society has marked its 30th anniversary.
The group performed a lively ukulele concert at Wistaston Memorial Hall as part of their celebrations.
Local musician Oli Ng is to perform a concert at Nantwich Town FC in aid of Autism Inclusive.
The evening of live music takes place on Friday November 15 starting at 7pm.
Popular Nantwich band Unit 17 are to perform a live show at The Vagrants sports club in Willaston on Friday.
They will be headlining a gig which is being supported by Twitches Rats.
The Nantwich Singers will perform their Summer concert “Are You Sitting Comfortably?” on July 18.
It as part of the lunchtime concert series being held in St Mary’s Church, Nantwich, and will start from 12.30pm.

A charity concert at St Mary’s Church in Acton has helped raise vital funds for the ‘Mary’s Meals’ charity.
The concert featured Mary’s Meals musicians – Caroline Morris, Jane Alcock, John Rowell, Tracey-Anne Green, Elfin Bow – who performed a mix of classical baroque music and folk songs.

Wistaston Singers and ukulele group Ukes Aloud performed a Springtime Concert in Aston in memory of two Ukes Aloud members who died.
The concert took place in a packed St Andrew’s Methodist Church on Wrenbury Road in Aston.

South Cheshire Orchestra are hosting a ‘Spring Concert’ on Sunday (April 21) at Wistaston Memorial Hall.
The concert is in memory of one of the orchestra’s founder members, Lewis Goodrich, who passed away in November.
