Thousands of people packed into Nantwich town square last night to enjoy the annual ‘Nantwich Christmas Light Switch-On’.
Presenters from local community radio station The Cat compered the event, which was organised by Nantwich Town Council.

Nantwich independent music store Applestump Records has launched a new Youtube channel to help promote local artists.
The store, which sells new and second-hand vinyl records on Barker Street, is run by Steve Cook.

The Cat community radio presenter Gary Johnson has marked a milestone by presenting his 1,000th Breakfast Show.
Gary reached the milestone on Thursday October 5 during his regular 7am-9am show which broadcasts to thousands across Nantwich and Crewe.

Thousands of people enjoyed a range of live shows during another successful Nantwich “Words and Music Festival”.
The 16th annual festival took place across different venues, ending on Sunday night with headliners Ocean Colour Scene at Nantwich Civic Hall.
The Cat Radio is to host a country music festival at The Crozzy club in Crewe on Saturday September 16.
It will feature seven local country acts, plus a line-dancing class.
Cat Xtra, the sister station of local community radio station The Cat, is now broadcasting on small scale digital radio on the Crewe and Nantwich multiplex in South Cheshire.
Cat Xtra started out as a project aimed at getting younger people into radio.
Adrian Wootton has completed an amazing 500-mile canal run for Mid Cheshire Hospitals critical care unit.
For the last three years, he has run 500 miles along UK’s canals without running over the same ground twice.

First team players at Nantwich Town helped spread Easter cheer by delivering chocolate eggs to children at Springfield School in Crewe.
Dabbers players Troy Bourne, Byron Harrison, and Dan Cockerline made the visit, along with Kit Manager Jason Clarke, representatives from the Co-op, and presenters Neil Davis and Gary Johnson from local community radio station The Cat.
The Nantwich Christmas Lights Switch-On is set to take place on Friday November 18, council bosses have confirmed.
Town Council staff have been busy preparing for the traditional start to the festive season.

Community radio presenter Gary Johnson has completed his last Breakfast Show on local community radio station The Cat 107.9 FM.
Gary’s first Breakfast Show went live on June 29 2019 – and up to December 31 2021 he had presented every weekday (7am to 9am), 600 shows in total.
Crewe and Nantwich community radio The Cat 107.9FM has received funding from the National Lottery Community Fund.
The funding will go towards continuing operations and the purchase of necessary equipment for the Cat’s “Out and About” community team following on from becoming media partners with Nantwich Town FC.
