Organisers of the annual “Holly Holy Day” Battle of Nantwich re-enactment are calling for more volunteers to help bring the historic event to life.
The re-enactment, a staple in the town’s calendar, commemorates the 1644 siege and subsequent victory during the English Civil War.
Nantwich Food Festival volunteers came agonisingly close to winning the King’s Award for Voluntary Services (KAVS).
The team was shortlisted for the prestigious award for all its efforts in organising the annual festival and in supporting Nantwich Foodbank.

Volunteers from Creating Dementia Friendly Nantwich will be available to talk on their “chatty benches” this week.
They will be at the benches on the town square between 11am-2pm throughout Dementia Awareness Week between May 13-17.
Nantwich Food Festival organiser are to stage a “welcome” event for new volunteers helping out at the 2024 show.
The festival can only go ahead thanks to the hundreds of volunteers who devote their time each year.
The countdown to Nantwich Food Festival 2024 is underway with the three-day event now confirmed for Friday August 30, Saturday 31st and Sunday 1st September.

Volunteers who run free steam train rides for children in Nantwich are appealing for help to expand their track.
The rides take place at Nantwich Methodist Church Railway on Hospital Street every Saturday morning.
An appeal has gone out for volunteers to take part in wildflower plug planting session at Brookfield Park in Nantwich this Saturday.
Sustainable Nantwich are organising the event and want volunteers to help plant hundreds of wildflower plants which have been grown by Cheshire Wildlife Trust.

Nantwich Running Club have launched their 2024 Couch To 5K programme.
Up to 45 people and over 25 club volunteers took part in the first session on Saturday (Jan 13).
Members of Nantwich in Bloom were presented with their 13th consecutive Gold Award from North West in Bloom at the town council last night (December 14).
The team, led by Sue Sherwood, were presented with a certificate by Mayor Cllr Stephanie Wedgwood at the Civic Hall.
